Today, my second day in Texas, I have finally seen someone wearing a cowboy hat and cowboy boots; he was also wearing shorts and a t shirt and had a piercing in his eyebrow (one of those ones that look like it was intended to be placed elsewhere on the face but the person inserting it sneezed at a critical moment), which taken together somewhat detracted from the authentic western effect.
I had gone into Best Buy to get some photo processing software (one third the price it is in Australia) and this pseudo cowboy was entering as I leaving. His companion was a very goth / emo / confused looking young woman who was dressed as though it was snowing instead of a sunny 85F. Roy Rogers and John Wayne must be spinning in their respective graves.
